Simulation and Testing for innovative Products: machine vibrations and structural testing
Dr. Filip Deblauwe received a bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Katholieke Universitieit Leuven in Belgium and a Ph.D. from the University of Cincinnati USA. He joined LMS, now Siemens PLM, in 1991.  In the 90’s, Dr. Deblauwe has brought to the market products like sound quality, sound source localization and transfer path. 
Currently Dr. Deblauwe is technical test manager for Siemens PLM EMEA and is responsible for all Siemens PLM test products.
The lecture will explain how both simulation and test methods of operational conditions are implemented while engineering innovative products:  
Part 1: Root cause analysis of machine vibrations (45 Min)
There are several tools available within the Siemens test portfolio to get a better understanding of the root cause of machine vibrations in operational conditions. On the basis of a real case, it will be explained how tools such as operational measurement, modal analysis and the digital twin were used to resolve an existing machine vibration problem.
Part 2: New trends in structural testing (15 Min)
Siemens sees a tendency in industry to acquire larger structural databases, more shakers, more spectral lines. This is pushing current parameter estimation algorithms to their limits. A new parameter estimation algorithm that can handle large databases will be presented.
