Agile Systems Engineering is not Agile Systems Engineering

The concept of agility was initially introduced as an organizational concept to for organizations to respond effectively and with competence to change. Such an agile organization is both innovative and resilient to change. In this sense, “agile systems engineering” is the agile engineering of systems.

Historical evidence shows that systems can also be agile, in the sense that they drive change and are resilient to change. In this sense, “agile systems engineering” is the engineering of agile systems.

In this presentation, both senses are addressed and discussed from a historical perspective, identifying pitfalls and some key elements to consider today.
