Stakeholder-oriented elaboration of a secure and safe software update process using systems engineering methods
Security risks are omnipresent these days and protection against cyber-attacks is becoming increasingly demanding. What was optional just a few years ago is now indispensable in the system for survival in today's networked world.
Analyzing typical, successful cyber-attacks reveals that the usual causes are not only technical issues, but also organizational and process-specific deficiencies.
konplan presents an example of how systems engineering and cybersecurity methodologies were combined in a project to elaborate a holistic, secure and safe software-over-the-air update process for devices in the field. The systematic top-down approach allows documenting the results on different levels so that they are understandable for both the manager and the engineer while containing valuable information for actual implementation as well.
