Integrating LLMs into MBSE: SysDICE’s Journey toward an AI4MBSE Assistant
The vision of an AI assistant supporting systems engineers in creating, editing, and interpreting SysML models is rapidly moving from concept to reality. While general-purpose Large Language Models (LLMs) are already transforming knowledge work, their integration into Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) workflows remains limited and fragmented, often lacking domain adaptation and system-specific context.
This presentation shares SysDICE’s journey and stories experienced in developing an AI4MBSE Assistant, designed to operate within secure infrastructures and tailored to the unique needs of systems engineers. The talk highlights key steps, technical challenges, achieved milestones, and early user feedback.
Use cases include enforcing modeling conventions, identifying duplication, generating initial model content, and interpreting SysML content through natural language queries. A live demo will illustrate selected capabilities, followed by an open invitation to collaborate and co-develop this emerging technology with the MBSE community.
Mohammad Chami is the founder and CEO of SysDICE GmbH, with an extensive career in the field of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE). He is an MBSE expert with solid academic and industrial experience in modeling languages, processes, and the development and deployment of methods for systems modeling, as well as customizing its tools. In recent years, his focus has shifted towards the application of artificial intelligence (AI), specifically natural language processing and machine learning, in MBSE. Mohammad holds a Ph.D. in computer science from the Université Paul Sabatier Toulouse III and two master's degrees in Electronics and Mechatronics. He has been an active member of INCOSE since 2014.
Ibrahim Ghanawi is an AI Engineer working at SysDICE GmbH since 2021. His work focuses on automating MBSE activities through AI capabilities, including in the fields of Natural Language Processing and Data Extraction. He has a diploma in Computer and Communications Engineering from the Lebanese University.
